The Photography of Albert Beaney
Enjoy a blast from Swindon's past with local man, Albert Beaney's photographic legacy...
Mr Beaney was a lifelong Swindon resident born in 1914.
His interest in photography started in his childhood, thus leaving the people of Swindon with an amazing collection of images depicting social life in Swindon, consisting of over 40.000 negatives and photographs from 1945 until 1970.
The Beaney collection was acquired by the Swindon Museum & Art Gallery in 1998 with help from “The Swindon Society” and has been a hidden treasure just waiting to be unveiled.
The first evening to showcase his work will take place on Thursday 29 March and will feature pictures taken in Pinehurst and Penhill.
The second evening will feature Park North & South, Walcot and Moredon and will take place on Thursday 12 April.
